"In the name of the father"

“In the name of the father”
The movie’s about the conflict between the Catholics in Eire (The Republic of Ireland) and the Protestants in Ulster (Northern Ireland) and in England. “In the Name of the Father” is a 1993 film directed by Jim Sheridan based on the true life story of the Guildford Four. The movie is about Gerry Conlon from Belfast. He is falsely implicated in the IRA bombing of a pub that kills several people while he is in London. The police convince the jury that Gerry, his friends and some of his family is guilty. They all have to go to prison. Gerry spends 15 years in prison, and during that time his father dies.

The conflict in Northern Ireland involves the IRA (Irish Republican Army) and the British. It started in 1923, when the British invaded Northern Ireland because they meant that Ireland should be a part of Great Britain. The IRA’s original goal when this happened was to get all of the British establishments out of Ireland and get up an independent Irish government.
In December at the 6th in 1921, the country Ireland was split in two. The Northern Ireland became a part of the Great Britain but not the rest. In the Northern Ireland the majority of the people were Protestants and therefore they didn’t mind that they were under control of the British, if the Northern Ireland became a part of Ireland again the Protestants would lose the privileges they had over the Catholics.

In The Name Of The Father

In English class today we saw a movie called "In the name of the father."
The movie is about Gerry Conlon from Belfast. He is falsely implicated in the IRA bombing of a pub that kills several people while he is in London. The police convice the jury that Gerry, his friends and some of his family is guilty. They all has to go to prison. Gerry spend 15 years in prison, and during that time his father dies.
I think the movie was great. It was a good movie to see to understand what it was alike for the people under the conflict between the Catholics in Eire (The Republic of Ireland) and the Protestants in Ulster (Northern Ireland) and in England. I also think the movie was a little bitt boring in the beginning and a little in the middle, but the movie was great.

Multimedia Poetry Presentation

To do a multimedia poetry presentation of a poem was fun. It was a new way of working with a poem, you didn't have to analzye the poem in the usually way. From this I learned that working with a poem doesen't have to be so boring. I learned that you can look at a poem another way that you usually do, you don't have to analzye every poem when you read it to undersatend. You can make your own opinion.

National Stereotyping

National stereotyping is a big problem in the world. People use stereotyping so they can put people in groups and think that they now something about them. We people like to have something we think we know about eat other. It makes us feel safer I think. National Stereotyping often give us a wrong impression of people. We think we know them, but when we talk to them and get to know them, we often get another impression.
Stereotyping often leads to racism. Racism is a typical problem in the world. People think that they are better than other. We put other people in box and think that they are alike. That ‘s wrong! I don’t want someone to put me in a box and think that I am like everybody else.

Theatre "mice and men"

Now we have watch “of mice and men” on the theatre. I think it was very good. The actors act very good. To see “of mice and men” on the theatre wasn’t like seeing it in a movie or read the book. In the theatre there were some of the characters who I have imagined a little different. Slim he was madder and meaner in the theatre, but in the film and the book he vas nicer. That I didn’t like. I like when he was nicer.
